  • Bio

    Pastor Doug was born in Huron, South Dakota while his father attended Huron College. His father then became a Pastor in the Presbyterian church. Pastor Doug spent much of his younger years in the Midwest, with a short time on the East Coast while his father went to Army Chaplain’s school. Their first duty station was at Fort Polk Louisiana, followed by moving to San Jose, California; Seattle, Washington; and finally Monterey, California. Upon completion of his time in the Army, Pastor Doug’s father took a call to Winona, Minnesota where Pastor Doug graduated from High School. He then volunteered to join the Army and was stationed in Baumholder, Germany.

  • Upon completion of his enlistment, Pastor Doug returned to Winona, Minnesota and entered into Winona State College. This is where he met his wife of 40+ years, Linda. On June 17th, 1978, they began their journey together. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of WI – Stevens Point with a degree in Forestry Management. He then spent the next 21 years working in the Forest Products industry. In 1994 he completed his Business degree with a Master’s in Business Administration. This ultimately leading him to open his own company, Minnesota Sash and Glass.
  • In 2001, he felt God’s urging him to enter into full-time ministry and in 2002 Doug entered into Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, MO. Leaning on his sale and entrepreneurial skills, he focused on the church planting route and was called to plant his first church in Leesburg, Virginia, in 2005. Upon a successful launch of Christ Community Lutheran Church and Leesburg Open Arms Child Development Center, Pastor Doug was called to plant another Lutheran church in Prattville, Alabama. With Messiah Church successfully planted, Pastor Doug moved on to his new location in Minneapolis, Minnesota where he and Linda currently live.
  • They have been blessed with two daughters, three beautiful granddaughters and a wonderful son-in-law. Pastor Doug has a passion for reaching the lost with the Good News of Jesus Christ and for helping churches realize their full potential as a part of God’s kingdom. Doug is always up for a strong cup of coffee and some good conversation — so if you’d like to meet the Pastor, don’t hesitate to call.

    Recruiting

    15 years experience recruiting volunteers. Successfully staffed weekly children’s and youth classes, special events, overnight youth camps, family retreats and couples’ retreats

  • Problem solving

    Helped numerous families and individuals solve complex relationship problems through counseling and coaching. Creatively maintained the operations of a growing volunteer-run church on a very limited budget.

  • Computer

    Proficient in Microsoft Office with expertise in Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Also proficient in Apple based systems, QuickBooks finance software and webpage management.

    Proficient in Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Instant Messenger, Twitter and LinkedIn

    Conducted demographic studies for development of programs, placement of ministries and target market strategies.

  • Public Speaking

    Have spoken to groups from 10 – 800 with confidence and ease. To date have over 700 public speaking engagements.

  • Project Management

    Oversaw numerous community outreach events and major construction project for a child Development center. Developed successful business plans for implementation of Child Development center and two successful church plants, to include managing teams of people, schedules and budgets. Created a successful window repair and glass specialty business with over $120K in sales first year.
