From Virginia to Alabama to Minnesota — Pastor Doug has spread the word of God through his contemporary style and warm, personal approach.

  • My Passion

To live and work in the margins where communities look toward the church, wondering if they are worthy, will they fit in or deserve the peace we as Christians say we have. To share with them the TLC, the Tangible Love of Christ, and to let them know Jesus came for the lost and weary to give them comfort and rest.

  • My Purpose

To establish relationships with people who have left the church or do not know Jesus. Not as an ulterior motive to convince them to follow Jesus, but as the ultimate motive. To walk with the Holy Spirit to plant or to water the seed of faith sown into their lives. I am willing to wait for the Holy Spirit moment to share the Good News of Jesus with people and to be part of their story.

  • My Plan

Simple. To live my life as a forgiven child of God. Accepting my shortfalls and sin, relying on the forgiveness of God and the strength through Jesus Christ. I want to live life unashamed of being a Christ-follower, acknowledging His reign in my life and to help others see their role in sharing the Good News to others in their lives.

Prattville, Alabama

  • Messiah Church

Pastor Doug received the call to plant a church in Prattville, Alabama in June 2009. The call was very open ended with the direction to establish a “Lutheran church with a twang”. He and his wife began their adventure in Prattville by attending several different churches in the area to get a “feel” on how people worshipped in the community. As he describes this process, “I wanted to create a church where everyone felt welcome and comfortable with the worship style.”

  • A launch team was gathered from Lutheran churches from Montgomery and Birmingham. Their first few months was focused on outreach and community service, from helping other organizations in their community events to setting up a balloon tent at other community events handing out balloons and information about Messiah Church. From these beginnings a worshipping community was built and continued to grow.
  • Plans were made to open up a child development center and ministry campus and the search for suitable land was begun. Prior to leaving Prattville, suitable land was secured and Messiah Church began moving forward to build their own worship center and future child development center.
